Lata Mangeshkar sang the patriotic song,” Aei Mere Vatan Ke Logon” so nicely that the then P.M. Pandit Nehru, who was the first P.M. of India, wept like a child hearing the melodious song. Lata’s song had immortalised the heroic deeds of our soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Since then, this song has become the epitome of the patriotic songs. Lata Mangeshkar was bom on 28th September, 1929 in a Maharastrian family who resided in Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Her father Deenanath was a noted classical singer and Theatre artist. Her mother’s name was Shudhhamati.
The famous singers Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar are her younger siste’rs. Her younger brother Hridayanath is a well-kown muci director, Menna is her youngest sister.
