- Once there was a poor woodcutter. During the rainy season he could not earn money. For several days and nights he had nothing to eat. He made a long journey on foot in search of some job. On the way he came across a well. When he was passing by the well he heard”Help, Help”. The wood cutter peeped into the well. He saw a monkey, a tiger, a snake,stand a jeweler trapped in it.

He thought of the ungratefulness of the jeweller and thought of the snake. The snake appeared at once and said, “I shall bite the queen and she will not recover unless you touch her forehead with your axe and in this way you can win the king’s favor.” Having said so the snake went away.

The woodcutter was released and the king gave him all his ornaments and a lot of gold. The ungrateful jeweller was very much ashamed of his act.
