Mother Teresa was a great soul. She was a pious lady, a great saint of our age. From her early childhood, she had great love and affection for the poor and sufferers. She had taken her early vows as a nun. Moved by the suffering and poverty of people, she left the teaching job at her convent school. Her whole life is a story of sacrifice and service to mankind. Many awards of national and international were rendered to her with honour. The Government of India had granted a state funeral in gratitude for her services to the poor of all the religious of India.

नाबेल पुरस्कार प्राप्त करते समय जब उनसे पूछा गया कि दुनिया में शांति को कैसे बहाल किया जा सकता है, तो उनका जवाब था कि लोगों को अपने-अपने घरों में जाकर अपने परिवार के साथ प्रेमपूर्वक रहना चाहिए।

5 सितम्बर, 1997 के दिन मदर टेरेसा हमें छोड़ गईं। अपनी मृत्यु के वक्त, उनके दान हेतु संचालित मिशनरिज में चार हजार से ज्यादा सिस्टर्स थीं

और तीन सौ से ज्यादा लोग उनसे जुड़कर 123 देशों में दस से ज्यादा क्षेत्रों में सेवा कार्यों का संचालन कर रहे थे। इन कार्यों में शामिल था एच.आई. वी./एड्स, कुष्ठ रोग और टीबी से ग्रस्त रोगियों के लिए अस्पतालों और आश्रय-स्थलों (आश्रमों/निवास) की स्थापना, बच्चों और परिवार के लिए परामर्श देना, व्यक्तिगत तौर पर मजदूरों की सहायता उपलब्ध करवाना और अनाथालयों व स्कूलों का संचालन करना ।
